Biography

Adelchi Galloni was born in Varese Ligure near La Spezia but he has spent most of his life in Milan.
He took a degree at “L’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera” in Milan and then started his activity soon proving his versatility. Besides painting, (he has held exhibitions in Galleries and public places both in Italy and other European countries), he has engaged in many other fields of modern life realising a great number of cartoons for advertising as well as medium-length movies and credit titles for films.
For Gamma Film’s commercials he was the art director in charge of storyboards, scripts and graphics of a large quantity of cartoons.
Furthermore he illustrated important advertising campaigns for customers such as FIAT, Alitalia, Innocenti, Knorr, Tages-Anzeiger, Chesterfield, Shell, Barilla, Champion and many more.
Starting from the early 80s he has engaged also in editorial work and his illustrations have been published in newspapers (Corriere della Sera) in magazines (Grazia, Donna Moderna, Anna) as well as in Children’s Books (Mondadori), for which he has made quite a name.
In 1990 he decorated the main hall of the cruise ship “Costa Marina” owned by Compagnia Fratelli Costa.
In 1991 he was chosen by La Monnaie de Paris (The French Mint) to represent Italy with the task to produce a celebration medal, a poster, a serigraphy and a cliché to celebrate the First Day of EU within a project called “Douze etoiles a la affiche” for which 12 artists, including Adelchi Galloni, had been invited, one from each member country of the European Union.
Starting from 1993 he has been conducting international seminars in Venice and all over the world. From 1994 he has been a teacher in “Istituto Europeo di Design” of Milan.
Since 1999 he has been the Character’s Creator and Background Director for “Johan Padan a la Descoverta de Americhe” a cartoon movie production based on a pièce with the same title by the Nobel Prize Dario Fò.
Since 2008 he has been teacher in Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna.
His name and his production appear in Who’s Who in Graphic Art.
